We followed a ranger's advice at the Nitmiluk Visitors' Centre:  to see wallabies, go to the campground at dusk, where they congregate for handouts, and also along the little gravel road to the ranger's house.  This led to our best encounter with jumping mammals in--er, not exactly in the wild, but wiilder than a zoo and a lot more fun.
