Dear Jamie Smith,
I am writing to apply for your Sales Associate position. I am currently a freshman at Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in Computer Science. I learned about your opening on the IUP Career Services web site. I could begin work December 15th.
I see in your job ad that you are seeking a person who is well organized and high energy. I believe I would make an excellent employee for you. Let me briefly address each of these qualifications.
I worked for 2 years at the McDonalds in Clymer, PA. My supervisor, Gina Davis, said I was one of her most dependable employees. I often picked up extra shifts because we were short handed many weekends. In addition, I usually worked the late evening shift when other employees were tired and did my best to be a smiling, friendly employee for customers. Because of my high energy personality, I was awarded Employee of the Month twice.
I’m also very well organized. I am currently taking 5 courses at IUP with lots of assignments due on a daily basis. In addition, I now work 20 hours per week in the cafeteria. This semester alone I had 3 major projects to complete and 7 major papers. I use a planner and assign set course work hours for each of my projects to make sure I complete all work on time. And my current GPA of 3.75 shows how successfully I can navigate all these challenges.
I hope overall you can see what a high energy, well organized employee I would make for your company. I can be reached on my cell phone at 724-555-5555 or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org). I look forward to hearing from you soon and will call you in two weeks to see how your search is progressing.
