Discussion Questions: Reflections on Brainstorming/Proposal Writing

Dr. Gian Pagnucci

Discussion Questions

Discuss your brainstorming/proposal writing efforts:

  • What was hard about the process?
  • What was exciting about it?
  • What sorts of ideas did you reject? Why?
  • Why did you choose the idea you chose?

What intimidates you about writing a narrative piece? Why?

What, if anything, do you find stimulating about this project? Why?

What sorts of constraints/limitations do you feel you may have operated under as you wrote your proposal? Why?

Did you follow the prompts/guidelines I had given for writing the proposal or did you break away from them? Why?

In what ways did the other people’s proposals engage your thinking? Why do you think that was the case?

Do you find this process enjoyable even, gasp, fun? If so, are you suspicious (at least a little) of that idea, of having fun as you learn? If you don’t find the process enjoyable, what would make it so? If you are suspicious of having fun in class, why do you think that’s the case? If you are just perfectly content and having a great time, how does that compare to your normal learning/classroom experiences?

What’s the last thing you learned that was fun? How well did you learn that thing? Why?
