Contract Negotiations
Information
Information
Concerning The information below is not required reading. It is provided only to help you understand why faculty may be forced to go on strike. My hope is that providing links to this information will help you stay informed and also limit some of the stress caused by the PASSHE's refusal to offer a fair contract to your teachers. A recent contract proposal made to the faculty union by the state system offered roughly 2% raises for 4 years. That raise offer is in reality a decrease in faculty pay, however, because the system also has proposed to increase faculty member's health care premium costs by 20%. The raise offer is also significantly below the current rate of inflation which is at about 4.8%. The faculty are also greatly concerned about the state systems proposal to hire unlimited numbers of temporary faculty members rather than offering students the stability of being taught by tenured faculty.
