Writing Matters: Recent Research in the Teaching of Writing

Writing Matters was a Fall 2005 program. It can be made available again. Please advise us of your interest.

Southcentral Pennsylvania Writing Project at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will host a workshop for school administrators on Tuesday, October 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Writing Matters: Recent Research in the Teaching of Writing is designed to introduce school administrators to research on writing and the best practices that result from what we know about writing and the teaching of writing.

Participants will:

·         Be introduced to recent research on writing.

·         Be introduced to research on professional development in writing.

·         Engage in writing that will illustrate writing as a tool for learning and as a reflection of understanding.

·         Identify ways to utilize what has been learned about writing in their schools.

·         Design a plan to introduce and implement best practices for teaching writing in their schools.

·         Become familiar with Southcentral Pa. Writing Project (SPWP) and the National Writing Project (NWP).

 Fee:    $100

Maximum registration:  25 participants.  Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
